Welcome to Kilece

 

Kilece offers a variety of services to enrich your learning experience. These services include Children and Youth Programs, Kindergarten to Grade 12(K-12) Tutoring, English as a Second Language(ESL) instruction, Swahili Language instruction, and Fax/copying services. The applicable fee for each of these programs is provided by Kilece Admissions Office during the registration process as outlined at the bottom of this page.

 

Children’s Program

 

We offer a safe and fun environment for your child (4-12 years old) to play and learn while you shop or run errands. Conveniently located next to the Southgate shopping centre and LRT station. Your child will engage in the following activities:

 Language and Literacy

 Math and Numeracy

 Science

 Art and Crafts

This is a Drop-in program offered on as-needed basis. Kindly call in advance to confirm the availability of space. A maximum of  3 hours of care is provided at a time.

All children must be toilet trained. Please bring a snack if needed. Certified Child Development Supervisor available for childcare needs.

Youth Programs

Enrich your life with basic financial literacy, developing good study habits, work ethics and leadership
skills. Kilece invites professionals e.g. doctors, chefs,  lawyers, teachers, firefighters, engineers, entrepreneurs, police officers, astronauts, etc. in a program called Careers Demystified. The program objective is to link the youth with practicing professionals that can contribute towards shaping the future of the youths as skilled members of a community. The invited professionals talk to the youth about their educational interests,  specific job qualification requirements, and their general work experiences. This program is tailored for youth and young adults.

Tutoring

​

Our tutoring services are offered in a safe and fun environment for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The specific focus is on Literacy and Numeracy skills among other competencies. Homework help and guidance is also offered as per the student's needs. The subjects covered are as follows:

• Kindergarten  and Grade 1: Language Arts, Math.

• Grade 2-6: Language Arts, Math, Science.

• Grade 7-9: Language Arts, Math, Science.

• Grade 10-12: Language Arts, Math, Science, Biology, Physics, Chemistry.

• Preparation for General Education Development(GED) tests

Our strong team is made up of Alberta certified teachers, university graduates, and subject specialists at undergraduate, graduate and PhD levels.

ESL- English as a Second Language

​

Kilece offers English as a second language for newcomers to Canada. The course will be delivered by experienced and supportive instructors that can help you improve your English skills in speaking, listening, writing and reading. The acquired skills will prepare you for effective communication and the social-economic opportunities that are available in your community.  

​

Prepare for CLBA (Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessment) and CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) in a fun and friendly environment with dedicated support focused on your goals.

Swahili Instruction

​

We offer Swahili language classes at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced level.

 The mode of lesson delivery is either In class instruction or Live Virtual/Distance learning.

 

We also offer Go Abroad pre-departure training, Intercultural Training, and trip ideas/insights to students/volunteers, who are on overseas exchange or practical international internships.

 

Language and pre-departure group lessons are offered in 4hrs, 8hrs, 16hrs and 40 hrs sessions. These lessons can be customized for clients (students, volunteers, tourists, scholars, missionaries, professionals and business people) who may not have the opportunities to attend classes for extended period of time.

Our Swahili instruction fee is $25.00 per hour per student.

 

Children classes will be available at a discounted fee of $17.50 per hour per student. For more information please contact the office.

 

We admit students in four different categories based on age:

 

• 3 – 5 years old (Child has to be potty-trained)

• 6 – 12 years old

• 13 – 17 years old

• 18 years old and above

2. Once your registration request is reviewed and approved, you are provided with an admission number and the next steps form

3. You are now eligible for programs, tutoring or classes offered by Kilece
